To find the Gasthof Krone, you have to know where it is, because from the outside you can’t tell what’s inside. So it was all the more pleasing for us when we entered: lived tradition that has arrived in the middle of the present. The innkeeper’s son sits in the lounge lined with wood and is doing his homework, wonderfully familiar. One look at the wood panelling is enough and it immediately becomes clear that something special is here: the old parlour was designed and built by Bauhaus architect Franz Baumann. The wide boards lend the whole restaurant a very airy and friendly atmosphere. In addition, there are bright tables and wooden benches as well as an unusual counter – design and yet authentic. The kitchen mainly uses local ingredients, and the menu includes a list of all components of origin. The menu shows the classic Tyrolean cuisine: beef or potato soup as a starter, Tafelspitzle, Kaesspätzle im Pfandl, Wiener Schnitzel and beef goulash, chicken drumsticks with pumpkin seeds and cranberries. A really delicious speciality are the Hasner with cabbage: hearty dough leaves which taste excellent together with the sauerkraut. A Kaiserschmarren as dessert and life is wonderful. It’s best to make a reservation!
